Seasonal Overview
It’s been a lot of fun bringing the Rankings to life over the past few years, and I’ve reached a crossroads. This is largely a one-man job, and it’s very time-consuming. Getting the Rankings out in a timely manner over the past few seasons has grown more and more challenging, and they’ve been coming out increasingly later than I’d like, so I’ve made the difficult decision to no longer provide commentary on the Rankings, at least for the time being. If something changes in my life that gives me more time to bring the commentary back, I will certainly do so, but the compilation of race results and ranking of runners is the top priority, and I don’t want anything to distract from those aspects of the Rankings. Those are the main things I’m interested in here, anyway, and likely that is the case for most of you as well. Hopefully I’ve earned everyone’s trust over the past few years to execute the Rankings accurately, and you’ll continue to enjoy them without some of my little explanations. I considered other solutions, like doing away with the 60+ age category, but the commentary is much more expendable than any other time-saving ideas I could come up with. I’m confident this decision will allow me to continue publishing the Rankings for years to come!

Races
In order to be considered for these rankings, a race must have open entry to all, have full results listed on a website, and preferably list age, gender, and city of residence of all runners. Road and cross country races will be considered. Any race that is known to have an actual distance significantly different from its advertised distance will have its actual, or more accurate best-guess, distance displayed in parentheses. Races will fall into the following seasons based on the following boundaries: spring is the first full weekend of March up to but not including Memorial Day weekend, summer includes Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day, fall is from after Labor Day to before Thanksgiving, and winter includes Thanksgiving races up to but not including the first full weekend of March.
