William and Mary freshman Dylan Ashbach, 18, of Williamsburg (from Ambler, PA in the Philadelphia suburbs) was an easy winner of the 13th annual Governor’s Land 5K Run Saturday morning in Williamsburg, running a time of 17:04. Runner-up Pete Gibson, 58, of Murfreesboro, NC (visiting relatives in the Governor's Land neighborhood) was second in 17:48, while Mathew Cheruiyot, 35, of Williamsburg was third in 18:15.

For the women, defending champion Sika Henry, 29, of Newport News improved her time by 24 seconds from 2013, winning this year in 18:50. The runner-up was William and Mary sophomore Jessica Armstrong, 19, of Newport News (a Peninsula Catholic grad) in 20:37. Third-place Jessica Burcham, 32, of Lanexa not only ran a lifetime best of 20:54 (her first 5K under the 21-minute barrier), but she also won the women’s costume contest in the Halloween-themed race
